Universal Synaptics Nerds
NERDS: Neural Electronic Repair Diagnostic
Features:
Description:
In the absence of computer aided, back-trace probing diagnostics, highly skilled technicians will develop over period of time, a set of key nodes to measure to locate the defective component.
Nerds allows the technician to automatically capture this probe information in the form of a series of questions that can later be used to input diagnostic data, such as:
Measure DC voltage at Collector of Q1:
Measure Resistance across fuse F2:
Is Switch S3 in the ON position?
These questions are then used to collect actual circuit data during routine diagnostics in a consistent and repeatable maner. After the failing component has been located, all the information is stored in a database for use by the software Neural Network.
In use, the technician simply gathers the required information and enters it into the computer. The Neural Network analyzes the new data using proprietary mathematical and logical algorithms applied to previously stored failure histories to compute the most likely causes of failure. Hierarcically arranged predictions are graphically displayed in a two part graph based on both mathematical and historical predictions. The technician is presented with all the information so he can make his best judgement based on the facts.
If the technician then finds that the suspect component is not faulty, he locates the failure using traditional methods and then updates the database so that future diagnosis will be able to use this new information. In this way, the NERDs diagnostic system always improves over time.
If your key technician gets promoted or moves to a better job, his expertise stays. No need to keep a good technician in the same job forever. Using NERDs, you can move him around to various jobs and capture his advanced expertise for the entire shop to use.
If used consistently in this maner, NERDs rapidly becomes the diagnostic expert of choice, resulting in faster diagnosis, fewer wasted parts, faster unit turnarounds and more profits. No more "Dog" units to repair.
After a couple of entries have been made in the database, the Neural Network can be "trained" and actual enhanced diagnostics can be used on the next unit needing repair.
The technician again gathers the necessary data, and passes that information to the Neural Network, which in-turn relays back to the technician which component is most likely the failing component. The technician can then jump straight to the component for verification, thereby saving dozens of steps in the normal diagnostic process.
