Universal Synaptics Articles Page
- No Fault Finder, Aviation Maintenance Magazine (May 2000): An Ogden, Utah company called Universal Synaptics has developed a unit to help aircraft operators track down hard-to-find intermittent electrical faults.
- Air Safety Week (Feb 24th, 2003): "Digital averaging" is a critical yet innocuous sounding problem. It has had a deleterious effect on aircraft safety and reliability for decades under the guise of no fault found (NFF) where fully half of all pilot-reported system failures are never duplicated on the ground or repaired.
- When the Average Isn't Good Enough, Avionics Magazine (Oct 2002): The "smoking gun" of avionics testing deficiencies. It's what we have been telling the aerospace industry for nearly a decade, that due to inherent sampling, filtering and measurement averaging, digital based test technology misses the random / intermittent events that are the root of the No Fault Found phenomena and are the likely cause of several recent crashes. It's key to why our parallel, latching-analog, IFD technology is the ONLY effective solution to the aging wiring and NFF problem.
- How Parts and Systems Age, Avionics Magazine (Nov 2000): One of the most insightful articles we have seen to date describing aging/intermittent wires & connections and what is required to test and resolve them. A few people out there get it!
- Contaminants and Moisture can Disrupt Your Electronics (equipment-reliability.com): Speaking of those who "get it", Author and Consultant David A. Douthit teaches courses in the Physics of Failure of electronics and electronic devices. Every one involved in Aging Aircraft studies should attend his courses.
